When reading the essay, Transformation: A Beginning, I couldn’t help but feel a bit lost in the opening of the essay. When reading further into it, I got the feeling that it was going to a little hard to comprehend. But some things were much clearer than others. When reading about the processes we undergo, I enjoyed learning how deep and progressive a person can get when undergoing a change. We can choose to change for the better by getting rid of something that can be harmful to ourselves and others around us. We can try and reduce the conflict we have in the matters of the mind so we can be more understanding to differences. In order to go through transformation, we need to be aware and ready. I really admired the example of the transformation of a new born caterpillar going through his biological processes to become a butterfly. I made way for more of a pictured understanding. Its shows a great contrast between the two. A caterpillar and a butterfly are so different from one another. It’s astonishing to see that one turns into the other. If a caterpillar is able to change entirely into something new and beautiful, we could be able to ourselves. In the second essay, Transformation: a context, the above mentioned example was explained in a new light. We are able to drastically change just like the caterpillar. Not so much in appearance, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This type of reinvention can raise our awareness and sense of worth. If you do not have self confidence you are merely looking at yourself in a bad light. No one should ever feel like they are nothing. We are all made to be something. Instead of letting all the negative energy effect you every single day of your life, one must strive for the hopes of betterment and revitalization. In order to do this, we must be acceptant toward others differences and opinions. We shouldn’t judge others based solely on appearance. The world is a very large place, with room for variation. If people were all exactly the same, the world would be a very colorless and lifeless planet. Everyone has something amazing to offer. We must be tolerant to these differences. Unfortunately, we are not born with this readiness. As a person, you must have the urge to want to change. To be nonjudgmental, would be the turning point to a new more open-minded you.
We, as people, have come a long way in the world. We have accomplished three great inventions in the beginning of our existence. First when reading about the prehistoric use of fire, I couldn’t help but reflect on how far society has come since then. Fire was an important tool to prehistoric existence. Fire was not only used as a basic tool for cooking, warmth and light; it was also used as a form of protection. Humans were now in control of something powerful. We were at the top of the survival chain. Evidence has been found that fire was not only used personally, but stone hearths were found along a French beach. This indicates that fire was also used for social necessities. They would around these stone hearths to socialize and to story tell. This could be a form of early education. That was not the only incredible discovery made by early humans. Soon after that, technology began to advance. The creation of the wheel is one of the most important inventions for us. Without this, transportation would never be as fast and productive. We realized heavy objects could not be moved simply by brute force. They began to place logs or grooves strategically underneath an object to roll it into place. Thus, the wheel and axel were created. After this, the world changed completely. Wagons, carts, chariots, and cars were able to be created because of the wheel. This made human life much simpler. Writing is probably the most important invention yet. Without any form of language or writing, we would not be able to communicate through written word. Writing enables us to record important facts, dates and information that can be used in the future. As a pre-teaching intern, I am a bit confused as what this has to do with teaching diverse populations. Like my first class EDF1005, I am a bit perplexed at why we had to read about early man made discoveries. But again, as I read the articles, I began to see why this is an important first step to take in this class. These great inventions helped our race become what we are today. Without any of these we would be lost. That is why I think it is vital to first become familiar with past achievements. Knowing your history and where you originate from, can help you grow and understand things in clearer perspectives. It’s important to see the past before you delve into the future.
Hello there, My name is Yesenia Tejas. I attend Miami Dade College North campus and am an Elementary Education Major. Ever since I was younger, I had a passion for teaching. I had a ratty old chalk board that I would to transform my room into my classroom. I would play dress up and sit my dolls in row as if they were my students. I remember that I was about 7 years old when I told my parents "Mami, Papi, I want to be a teacher when I grow up". They laughed and said you'll change your mind. But look at me now, 20 years old and still on the same path. Working with children is probably the most rewarding job anyone can have. I feel great when I know that I have helped a child learn and grow in knowledge. Not only is this job rewarding, but it is difficult. Your limits get tested, your boundaries and patience level. I have had my doubts here and there, but I have always come back to it. I recently started to work at a private school as a teachers assistant. I can honestly say, that i have found my calling. This job has given me the push i needed to succeed in this field. I struggled in the beginning and doubted that I could do it all. But I pushed myself to the limit. I had strived to achieve it and ended up doing better than I had ever hoped.I know that this is where I belong. No matter the situation, being money or troubles, I know this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. People say I probably won't make it because of the stress or direction of the school system; I know this is where I belong.
