Hello there, My name is Yesenia Tejas. I attend Miami Dade College North campus and am an Elementary Education Major. Ever since I was younger, I had a passion for teaching. I had a ratty old chalk board that I would to transform my room into my classroom. I would play dress up and sit my dolls in row as if they were my students. I remember that I was about 7 years old when I told my parents "Mami, Papi, I want to be a teacher when I grow up". They laughed and said you'll change your mind. But look at me now, 20 years old and still on the same path. Working with children is probably the most rewarding job anyone can have. I feel great when I know that I have helped a child learn and grow in knowledge. Not only is this job rewarding, but it is difficult. Your limits get tested, your boundaries and patience level. I have had my doubts here and there, but I have always come back to it. I recently started to work at a private school as a teachers assistant. I can honestly say, that i have found my calling. This job has given me the push i needed to succeed in this field. I struggled in the beginning and doubted that I could do it all. But I pushed myself to the limit. I had strived to achieve it and ended up doing better than I had ever hoped.I know that this is where I belong. No matter the situation, being money or troubles, I know this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. People say I probably won't make it because of the stress or direction of the school system; I know this is where I belong.
